You call it lame I call it comfort. If I'd rent a flat somewhere else I'd have to spend money on it. And I rather put it into repainting my room / buying new furniture etc etc. Or keep it saved for future cause I'm planning to open some businesse of my own =) Why should I give my money to someone else if I can invest it in myself, my home or my family?

What's the difference? It's built by my parents but it will be mine, they built it some time ago I care about it now and am going to make it more comfortable for me, them and my future family. I fail to see your problem with this matter.
